The national project to transform the apprenticeship system in Ireland: Reflections on the work in progress
In only four years, Ireland has rolled out a new TVET system that incorporates apprenticeships across all levels of education. The impact of the pandemic, the climate crisis, alongside rapid technological changes prompted apprenticeships to adapt and incorporate emerging green and digital skills. At the same time, apprenticeships have adapted to new professions. Such changes evidence that apprenticeship systems need to reflect society, and be led by industry. During this session, the panellists will outline and analyse the key elements of the strategy, including a consortium approach, that can sustain a just transition.
